Indian weapons on which Armenia sets its eyes |
India Armenia defence partnership is booming at an unbelievable pace. As Russia is busy in its war against Ukraine and as it faces shortages of weapons, it couldn’t supply arms and ammunitions to its partner Armenia in their war against Azerbaijan. India at this moment, rose up and started supplying arms to Armenia.
India recently sold Swathi Weapon Locating Radar, Pinaka Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher, Anti Tank Missiles and Ammunitions to Armenia. While in a breaking news last week, the Chairman of Kalyani Group, Mr Baba Kalyani told media that they have been awarded $155 million export contract to supply 155mm howitzer by a country, later Business world reported that the country is Armenia and they have placed order for 155mm x 39 caliber Truck Mounted Howitzer designed and developed by the Kalyani group.
Now Armenia is said to have set its eyes on Indian Air Defense Systems especially two variants of Akash Surface to Air Missiles namely Akash Mk1/Mk2 and Akash-NG SAMs as they are looking for a mid range Air Defense system at a range of 30-70km range to protect their ground assets from Azerbaijan attack at a cheaper price, and Akash SAM represents the best bet for them.
