Mazagon Dock to build a huge New Floating Dry Dock for Next Gen Destroyers of 15000 tonnes

Mazagaon Dock Shipbuilders has launched the 3rd Stealth Frigate ‘Taragiri’ that has been built under Project-17A and the frigate will be delivered to the Indian Navy in August 2025.

Mazagaon Dock Shipbuilders and Garden Reach Shipbuilders are building 7 Project-17A Frigates for the Indian Navy and both the shipyards are in talks with the Navy for repeat orders for 7 more Frigates in 2023.

Mazagaon Dock has also announced that it will construct a new floating Dry Dock which will be capable to construct Next Generation Destroyers of 15,000 tons for which the Indian Navy will sought funds from the CCS very soon.

Next Generation Destroyers will be the biggest non-Aircraft Carrier surface warship ever built in India and it will be the most sophisticated warship too in terms of its armament. These ships are said to be equipped with Electromagnetic Railguns, Anti Ballistic Missile Defense (AD-1 and AD-2 interceptors under BMD Phase-2), Long Range Surface to Air Missile, Hypersonic BrahMos-II (800-1,000 km range), Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (1,500-2,000 km range) and many more weapons systems.
