Rheinmetall developed Skyshield Air Defense Gun system |
Indian Armed
Forces have initiated a process for procurement of 220 units of Next Generation
Air Defense Gun (NGADG) systems.
As per the reports, this is the first tranche of guns that will be acquired to address the immediate requirement and later more units will be acquired.
Ministry of Defence (MoD) has now extended the date for submission of bid for this requirement till June this year.
It is believed the extension is based on the request of an Indian Public sector company that is in process of finalizing a joint venture with a German company Rheinmetall.
As German company Rheinmetall has already offered Skyshield Air Defence Gun system to India under Make in India initiative and they have offered to tie up with Public Sector Giant BHEL.
