IgMp has received
reports that the work to develop a BrahMos UCAV variant is being considered
that will be a returnable carrier variant of the BrahMos missile.
IgMp has learnt that the Former President and ‘Missile Man of India’ the Great Late Scientist Dr. A. P. J Abdul Kalam sir had first proposed the idea in 2013 to develop an advanced hypersonic version of the BrahMos cruise missile that should be able to deliver its payload and return to its launching base.
Currently there is no confirmation on this program and no development on this program has been reported in the media.
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has already developed a Reusable Launch Vehicle Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD) and tested it for twice. Whether this RLV-TD will be used as a base for this proposed BrahMos Reusable UCAV or not, only time will tell that.
For your kind information, we want to inform our viewers that a hypersonic version of BrahMos missile named BrahMos-II(K) named after Dr. Kalam sir, is already under development for quite some years now in partnership with the Russians.
It has been reported that the Russians will transfer the knowhow and base model of Zircon hypersonic cruise missile to India’s BrahMos Aerospace that will develop BrahMos-II(K) based on Zircon, just like BrahMos’s current version is based on P-800 Oniks supersonic Russian cruise missile but a better one.
