India to get French Shortfin Barracuda submarine under P-75I with DRDO AIP technology !!??

IgMp has earlier reported that several participants in the Indian Navy’s Project-75I submarine tender have withdrawn their names one by one for the Lithium-ion powered AIP tech transfer clause in the RFP.

But now, reports have emerged that talks have started between India and France that the French firm Naval Group should be hired as a technical consultant for the Project-75I to either use the Scorpene-class submarine as a base to develop a new line of submarine within the French technologies or India should purchase designs and tools to manufacture the Shortfin Barracuda submarines in India with maximum Indian made components so that India maintains Intellectual Property Rights of the design along with French assistance to incorporate Indian systems like DRDO developed AIP system and lithium-ion batteries if the Project-75I is executed with a technical consultation.

With Indo-French technologies with a proven design, it can become a reality at a much faster rate.
