The issued Area Warning or NOTAM for 24-25th February |
India has issued a second Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for this month for a launch of an experimental flight vehicle in the Bay of Bengal this month for the period from 24-25 February 2022 as per information provided by Twitter user @detresfa_. The first NOTAM for the period from 26-27 February 2022 still stands.
The designated area is 355 km in length which indicates it might be the first test of much anticipated 'Desi S-400' codenamed as 'XR-SAM' or 'Extra Long Range Surface to Air Missile' which will have a designated range of up to 350km. This can be a test of Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV) too, since DRDO had announced plans to carry out fresh trials of the missile but it could be some other missile system too.#AreaWarning #India issues a notification for the launch of an experimental flight vehicle over the #BayOfBengal

NOTAM for the period from 26-27 February 2022 seems to be for the developmental trial of the long-range Astra Mk2 beyond visual range air to air missiles.
