Pakistan has recently accused India and Israel of orchestrating efforts to mislead the United States into imposing sanctions on its missile development and research entities. The claims come after the US announced restrictions targeting organizations tied to Pakistan’s long-range ballistic missile programs, sparking intense debate among defense and geopolitical analysts.

In a strongly worded statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry alleged that India and Israel are actively working to weaken Pakistan’s strategic capabilities. According to the ministry, the recent sanctions against firms such as the National Development Complex (NDC) are part of a broader agenda to curb Pakistan’s advancements in missile technology. Officials argue that this is a deliberate attempt to restrict its long-range ballistic missile program, which is critical to maintaining strategic deterrence in the region.

Defense analysts in Pakistan have dismissed the impact of these sanctions, asserting that they will not hinder the country's missile development efforts. One prominent analyst, whose comments gained traction on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), insisted that Pakistan’s indigenous technological capabilities are advanced enough to bypass such restrictions. They emphasized that the country’s strategic deterrence against India remains unaffected, despite external pressures.

In addition, Pakistani experts criticized the perceived double standards in US foreign policy. One defense expert highlighted the apparent lack of scrutiny over collaborations like the Indo-Russian BrahMos-2 project while pointing out that Pakistan’s partnerships with China in missile technology are consistently targeted. This, they argue, underscores a bias in favor of India within US strategic policymaking.

The US has justified the sanctions on the grounds of preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and their delivery systems. The targeted entities have been accused of supplying materials and technology to Pakistan’s ballistic missile programs, which Washington views as a destabilizing factor in the region.

Pakistan’s missile development program has long been a response to India’s growing missile arsenal. The country’s Shaheen missile series is a cornerstone of its defense strategy, aimed at ensuring a credible deterrent against its eastern neighbor. These capabilities are seen as essential for countering India’s advancements in both conventional and nuclear-capable missile systems.

This ongoing missile race between Pakistan and India continues to heighten tensions in South Asia. The sanctions, coupled with accusations of bias and selective enforcement of international norms, could exacerbate regional instability. Observers warn that this situation highlights the urgent need for a balanced approach to arms control and non-proliferation to prevent further escalation in the region.
