Defense Minister
Rajnath Singh is slated to review one of India's most strategically important
project next week, which is the development of a 125-kilonewton engine to power
the country's futuristic 5.5th Generation AMCA stealth fighter jet.
British firm Rolls-Royce was also keen to work with India on co-developing and manufacturing jet engines however it seems that the Government is keen to conclude the deal with France.
The French engine manufacturer Safran is asking for more than €1 billion Euros to transfer the technology needed to manufacture the engines and this new high thrust engine will be used in both the AMCA and the French Future Combat Air System (FCAS).
