Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has transferred the technology of Driver Night Sight for T-90 Tanks to MKU Limited, Kanpur for manufacturing these for the Indian Army. DRDO developed uncooled thermal imagers-based DNS for tanks has a range of up to 150 meters with the field of view 45?x34?.
— MKU Ltd. (@MKUofficial) February 24, 2022Driver’s night sight (DNS) will assist the driver in tank operations at dark pitch nights with no ambient light and will be replacing existing image intensifier sights used in T-90 tanks.
Night-blindness of the Indian Army’s armored formations was a major issue till 2016 with only 50% having the capability to fight at night, since then most of the T-72 and T-90 tanks have been equipped with DNS that was manufactured by BEL, Vijaywada, and OFB Dehradun, making MKU the first Private sector company to receive ToT for the DRDO developed Driver Night Sight.
