In light of economic sanctions imposed by the West on Russia's defense industry, India has revived discussions with Russia regarding the acquisition of technology for the Zircon/Tsirkon hypersonic missile. This missile is expected to have similar performance characteristics to the BrahMos-II(K) missile.

The Zircon/Tsirkon hypersonic missile boasts an impressive range of 1,500 kilometers and can achieve a top speed of Mach 9, equivalent to about 3.1 kilometers per second. It is designed for launch from various platforms, including ships, submarines, and land-based launchers.

Russia's leadership is currently reviewing India’s request for access to the hypersonic cruise missile technology. If approved, this technology will be instrumental in the development of India's BrahMos-II(K) hypersonic missile.
