Argentina
has been scouting for 12 new fighter jets and before the entry of Tejas
aircraft in the competition, the Chinese JF-17 was seen as the probable winner
of the tender.
The Chief of the Argentinian Air Force visited India along with a pilot in March 2022 and they clocked over 30 minutes in the Tejas trainer variant and were impressed by the indigenous fighter.
Argentina's response was also positive for the JF-17 but the U.S Government was able to talk them out of considering the Chinese aircraft.
HAL delegation recently visited in Argentina to brief the top Argentine Air Force officials on the aircraft and Argentina is now looking to export two variants of Tejas Light Combat Aircraft from India that includes the two-seater trainer and the export variant of the Tejas Mk 1A.
