Defence Minister Rajnath Singh while addressing at an industry chamber said that France has agreed to make an ‘engine’ in India under the strategic partnership (SP) model. Singh confirmed that in meeting with visiting French Defence Minister Florence Parly both countries have decided to make an engine in India under the SP model.
Since much of the details is yet to be officially confirmed, But a new consortium of companies made up of DRDO-HAL-Private Sector companies along with French Safran might be announced soon as India’s 5th generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) Program is all set to take off when the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meets next.
New Company will be in charge of setting up of a new production plant and also testbed facilities to test the new engine in the county. The 110 KN engine will be ready for its first flight within seven years after the contract is inked and will be ready to enter production 3-4 later. AMCA MkII will be the first aircraft to get these new high trust engines that later will also make into LCA-AF MkII and TEDBF.
Since Rafale will be Flying Test Bed for this new engine in the future, IAF will have a choice to switch to the new engine if it desires for its entire Rafale fleet.
