New Delhi: In December 2022, 120 missiles were approved for the Air Force. After this, in April 2023, two units were approved. Which had about 250 missiles. So that they can be included in the Rocket Force of the Indian Army.
After this, in September 2023, DAC allowed the formation of an army regiment for these missiles. Now a unit which will have 120 missiles is yet to get approval. After this, a total of 370 missiles will be included in the army. Pralay missile is a short-range surface-to-air and surface-to-surface missile.
The range of Pralay missile is 150 to 500 km. The speed of Pralay is 1200 km/hr. Which can be increased to 2000 km/hr. That is, its speed increases when it falls on the target from the air. China has such Dongfeng-12 missile. Whereas, Pakistan has Ghaznavi, M-11 (received from China) and Shaheen missile.
Easy to fire from near the border
The advantage of short range is that it will destroy the enemy bases near the border in a jiffy. In the month of December 2021, this missile was tested twice within 24 hours. With the deployment of this missile on the China and PAK border, both the countries will remain within limits. If it is fired from near the border, it will not take much time to destroy the bunkers, cannons, military bases or their weapons depots of China or PAK.
Accuracy and speed make it the most lethal
The accuracy and speed of the Pralay missile make it the most lethal. This missile weighing 5 tonnes can carry a conventional weapon weighing 500 to 1000 kg on its nose. The technology of three missiles has been used to make this missile. These missiles are Prahaar, Prithvi-2 and Prithvi-3.
Equipped with the ability to attack even at night
Pralay missile has the ability to attack even at night. This means that attacks on Chinese targets are possible even at night. This means that it will have an infrared or thermal scanner which helps in attacking at night. Pralay missile runs on inertial guidance system. It has solid propellant fuel. This means that high explosive, penetration, cluster munition, fragmentation, thermobaric and chemical weapons can be installed in the warhead of this missile.
A radius of 33 feet from where it fell is completely cleared
8X8 Tata Transporter Erector Launcher is used for launching. Pralay’s target destruction accuracy is 10 meters i.e. 33 feet. This means that even if this missile falls within a radius of 33 feet from the target, it will cause the same damage as it would have caused if it fell on the target accurately. This means that the area to be destroyed will be destroyed.
