Two soldiers hurt in J&K's Anantnag terrorist clash: Operation ongoing
Security forces launched a joint operation based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area. The Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF were involved in this operation. According to a post by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army on X, “Based on specific intelligence input, a Joint Operation was launched by #IndianArmy, @JmuKmrPolice & @crpf_srinagar today in general area Kokernag, Anantnag. Contact was established and firefight ensued. Two personnel have been injured and evacuated from the area. Operations are in progress.”
The clash started when terrorists opened fire on the search team, prompting a retaliatory response from the security forces. The exchange of gunfire is ongoing, and the area’s dense forest cover complicates communication.
The injured soldiers have been successfully evacuated from the scene. As operations continue, further details are awaited. Earlier on Saturday, another encounter between terrorists and security forces took place in the Ahlan Gagarmandu area.
In addition to this, the Jammu and Kashmir Police released sketches of four terrorists believed to be in the Kathua district. A reward of Rs 5 lakh has been announced for information leading to their capture. This move comes in the wake of recent terror attacks in the Jammu region, including an assault on an army convoy in Kathua and encounters in Doda and Udhampur.
According to the officials, the exchange of gunfire is ongoing, and additional details are awaited as the operation is taking place in a forest area with limited communication.
