According to Ministry of Defence sources and WLVN Analysis on Twitter, the Indian Navy has inducted an unknown number of Sea-based Loitering Munitions into its naval arsenal.

It is unclear whether Loitering Munition inducted by the Navy, came from an Indian firm or a foreign one, but the Navy has taken cognizance of the increasing usage of Loitering Munitions in modern warfare, especially after watching it in Russia Ukraine war.

Loitering Munitions offers a great punch with very low cost, as it home in on enemy locations, vehicles, radars, ships or any other things and destroys itself. If flies very low and is very hard to detect by conventional air defense systems. It can be launched in numbers to penetrate or confuse enemy Air Defenses further. It gives a new dimension or flexibility to a force against adversaries.

Indian Navy can use these Loitering Munitions both to attack land targets or enemy ships from a longer distance.
