The Hasimara Air Force station has got improved taxiways, new generation hardened aircraft shelters and new munition storage facilities according to the year-end review report published by the Ministry of Defence.

The Govt of India will develop the whole district of Alipurduar to a civil enclave to operate civilian passenger aircraft flights, this has also been a long standing demand of the people in the area for a second airport for North Bengal.
