Indian Air Force finally accepts Critical Design Review (CDR) of the Tejas MkII / MWF

Following the successful completion of the preliminary design review (PDR) stage last year, the Tejas MkII program’s design team had completed the critical design review (CDR) phase and the project achieved a major landmark and many might have, breathe a sigh of relief when on November 15, Deputy Chief of Air Staff (DCAS), Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari, accepted the critical design review (CDR) report of the Tejas MkII.

Critical design review (CDR) acceptance will pave way for the fabrication of the two pre-production Tejas MkII aircraft first of which will be rolled out by end of 2022 and after conclusions of Low and High-Speed Taxi Trials, the first flight of the same will be concluded by end of 2023.

idrw.org had informed that ADA is trying to showcase the first aircraft at Aero India 2023 that is to be held at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru in February after its rollout in December 2022. The current CAS is Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari has been avoiding talking about the Tejas MkII program since taking the chair that has been causing speculations if the program is dead on arrival as IAF has no intention to place orders for the jets but acceptance of the CDR by IAF might come as a booster to the program.
