AMCA: CDR to be Completed by Early 2022

R Madhavan, Chairman & Managing Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has confirmed that after completion of the preliminary design review (PDR) that was concluded jointly with ADA in December 2020 of India’s 5.5Gen AMCA Program, the critical design review (CDR) will be completed by early 2022 setting the stage for the rollout of a prototype aircraft by the end of 2023 and first flight by 2024.
Girish S. Deodhare, Programme Director (Combat Aircraft) & Director General, ADA also confirmed that LCA AF Mk2 and AMCA programs are progressing as planned. LCA AF Mk2 program has completed all the activities towards Critical Design Review, and roll out is planned in 2022. Subsequently, the first flight is planned for 2023.
Deodhare added that the AMCA program, after completing Preliminary Design Review, is progressing rapidly towards CDR which is planned early next year.
