India today is ready to face any kind of challenge and is equipped to protect the sovereignty of 135 crore citizens, thanks to technological advances in the defence sector by facilities such as the Terminal Ballistic Research Laboratory, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh said on Thursday.

“India has always been a peace-loving country and still is. It is against our values to start any dispute from our end. But if the need arises, our country is ready to face any challenge. Once started with two rooms, this (TBRL) has today become a laboratory providing vital defense technology and capabilities to the country,” the Defence Minister said while addressing the staff of the Terminal Ballistic Research Laboratory in Chandigarh.

Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, who was also present on the occasion, said that India is “proud of TBRL” for helping boost the capabilities of the Indian armed forces.

“We are very proud of TBRL (Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory) because the kind of work you are doing will help our armed forces become capable. Right now there’s a necessity, we have challenges before us at borders,” CDS Rawat said.

He said that in order to face the challenges India faces at the borders – Line of Control with Pakistan and Line of Actual Control with China, it is paramount that we achieve technological advances in the area of defence.

“To face these challenges, we need high technology system that can further enhance the ability of all 3 armed forces. Our rivals are using technology very rapidly in warfare, so it’s essential for us too to use technology to face them,” the Chief of Defence Staff said.
