Chinese Air Defence System HQ-9P |
Islamabad: Before the induction of the S-400 air defense system in the Indian Air Force, the Pakistan Army has inducted the China-made HQ-9 / P HIMADS air defense system in its arsenal. Pakistan claims that the Chinese air defense system is equipped with long-range surface-to-air missiles capable of destroying fighter jets, cruise missiles, and other weapons up to 100 km with a single blow.
Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday inducted the China-made HQ-9/P HIMADS (High to Medium Air Defense System) into the Pakistani air defense network. In an official statement issued by the Pakistan Army, it has been said that with the inclusion of this air defense system, now Pakistan's aerial security has been strengthened. He said that this air defense system can intercept multiple targets simultaneously.
Almost the entire Jammu and Kashmir is in the range of Air Defense System.
Targets that are not visible to the eye up to a distance of about 100 km can also be targeted. The Pakistani military said that their aerial security has become impenetrable due to the induction of this air defense system amid emerging threats. The Pakistan Army Chief said that the defense and strategic partnership between China and Pakistan is a major factor of stability in the region. Many officials from China were also present in this program.
Pakistani experts claim that almost the entire Jammu and Kashmir comes in the range of this air defense system. It is the most modern air defense system inducted into the Pakistan Army. It can also be used for coastal security. It can be taken anywhere by rail or air. This air defense system has been inducted into the Pakistani army at a time when India is going to get its first S-400 air defense system from Russia on November.
The Chinese system does not stand anywhere in front of India's S-400
Whatever Pakistani experts say, but right now the best air defense system in the world is the S-400 Triumf, made by Russia. The S-400 is considered to be Russia's most advanced long-range surface-to-air missile defense system. It is capable of shooting down enemy aircraft, cruise, and ballistic missiles. This system is an upgraded version of Russia's S-300 air defence system, which has been developed by Almaz-Antey, in service with the Russian military since 2007. It is capable of firing 36 rounds in a single go.
The Russian system is capable of hitting a target at a maximum range of 400 km and was first deployed by the Russian military on 28 April 2007. According to experts, the missile defense system of Israel and America is also strong, but they have long-range missiles. Instead, Russia has a strong short-range missile defense system. It is capable of shooting down aircraft, through which India is at risk of attack. The Chinese army itself also relying heavily on the same S-400 system now.
India's already placed counter-responses towards HQ-9P air defence system
Indian Air Force with its Rafale Omni role fighter can easily jam the Chinese HQ-9P, with its most powerful Spectra electronic warfare suite. Indian Air Force's other workhorse Sukhoi Su-30MKI with Russian SAP-14 and SAP-518 electronic warfare jammers, also can easily jam the Chinese Air Defence System of the Pakistani Army.
On the other hand, the Indian Army with its latest BrahMos Block-III supersonic cruise missile regiment can pose a serious threat to Pakistani infrastructures, as BrahMos flies at Mach 3 speed throughout its journey, which makes it almost impossible to intercept by any air defence system. Increasing the anxiety of air defence systems, BrahMos performs an S-maneuver at the terminal phase of its target acquisition, making it much more difficult for the enemy air defence network to intercept it.
India also has another weapon in its arsenal now, the Next Generation Anti Radiation Missile (NG-ARM) which has a range of 150-200km, this is a pure anti-radar missile, whose primary task is to destroy enemy air defence system's primary multi-function radar, this missile leaves very minimal heat signatures, that's why it is difficult for any air defence system to intercept this missile, and if an air defence system fails to intercept it, then it will make that air defence system blind by taking out its eye, its main multifunctional radar, leaving the whole air defence system almost unguided.
So, the conclusion is, Pakistan can try their best, whatever they will do, India has answers to those long before. Because we are preparing for China, taking into account, every Chinese weapon and military strategies, so, it will be obvious that we will have counter-responses to most of the Chinese weapons systems, and HQ-9 is one among those.
